Interpret Your First Dashboard
Read Overview and Value Ledger without confusing missing data with zero.
Overview is a financial command center, not a promise that every source is configured at first login. The meaningful questions are what is known, how current it is and what requires action.
Read the top-level figures
Allocated spend is cost assigned under an authoritative allocation run. Unallocated spend remains intentionally unattributed where mapping is not defensible. Both depend on successful ingestion and allocation, and must be qualified by currency, period and measure. A dash is an unavailable value — not zero.
Applications and workloads count business records visible to the selected workspace, not automatically every AWS resource. Import legacy applications or create/associate records through supported workflows to populate the portfolio.
Why Value may be empty
Estimated opportunities require recommendations or candidate actions with defensible estimated financial impact. Value Ledger rows require an implementation and a verification record. Merely receiving an AWS recommendation does not create realized savings.
First five checks
- Is the correct workspace selected?
- Is an AWS connection truly validated?
- Did the export-backed cost ingestion finish successfully?
- Did the allocation run finish, and what remains unallocated?
- Were workloads imported and recommendations refreshed?
What to do next
Review unmapped resources and owners before trusting application-level totals. If the application has a migration wave, move to its economics and dual-run tabs. For potential savings, use Savings Radar and the Action Center; for verified outcomes, open the Value Ledger.
